How to make a growing-up video from photos

Short answer

Collect one or two photos per year of the person, put them in order from oldest to newest, and animate the transition between each pair of neighbouring photos so one becomes the next. Join the clips into one video and play it on the event screen. Each transition is a 5-second clip, so a minute of video needs about 12 transitions.

1. Choose the photos

Pick clear photos where the face is visible and not too small. One or two per year is enough; for a baby's first year, one per month works beautifully.

  • Start with a newborn or the earliest photo you have
  • Mix close portraits with a few family moments
  • Avoid heavy filters, tiny screenshots and group photos where the person is hard to find
  • End with a recent portrait or a photo from the big day

2. Put them in story order

Order the photos from oldest to newest. The video is a chain: photo 1 turns into photo 2, photo 2 into photo 3, and so on, so the order is the story.

3. Animate each pair

For every pair of neighbouring photos, AI creates a short clip that starts exactly on the first photo and ends exactly on the second, with natural movement carrying the change in age, clothes and setting.

Watch each clip. If one doesn't look right, generate it again and keep the version you prefer.

4. Export one continuous video

Join the clips into a single horizontal (16:9) MP4. It plays on TVs, projectors, laptops and phones.

5. Test it before the event

Send the file to the DJ or venue a few days early and play it once on their screen with sound. Keep a copy on your phone as a backup.

How long does it take to make a growing-up video?

Choosing and ordering the photos takes the longest. Each animated transition is usually ready within a few minutes, and joining them into the final video is automatic.

Do I need video-editing skills?

No. You only choose the photos and their order; the transitions and the final video are generated for you.

Can I try it for free?

Yes. Your first animation is free, with no credit card.
